Abstract

A thiostrepton resistance gene and a tyrosinase gene were linked to an amplifiable DNA sequence from Streptomyces lividans 66. This construct was introduced by transformation into S. lividans where it integrated into the chromosome by homologous recombination. When spontaneous DNA amplification was induced, the cloned genes were co-amplified to give stable high copy number clones.
