Abstract
At the beginning of July, Bio/Technology sent questionnaires to a cross-section of readers, 671 in the United States and 259 in Europe. We received 304 U.S. responses in time for this report, of which 293 were complete enough to be included in this analysis. Because of postal delays and the added difficulty of converting currencies, too few European replies had arrived by the copy deadline to permit a meaningful analysis. A portrait of European employment trends will appear in a forthcoming issue.
